Description
CAMBRIDGE GLASS CLEAR MT. VERNON # 29 MUSTARD BASE TOOTHPICK HOLDERA beautiful piece of pressed glass with an overall “diamond point” pattern.
It was made by the Cambridge Glass Company, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio and is a quality piece of Crystal or clear colored glass and is part of their “Mount Vernon” pattern line.
Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” paragraphs below.
This piece was part of my Mother’s toothpick holder collection.
According to her records she acquired this in 1991.
I cannot be certain if Cambridge Glass actually sold this as a toothpick holder or not, but it certainly is the right size for one.
Regardless, it is pictured in the book
The Cambridge Glass Co. Cambridge, Ohio: A Reprint Of Parts Of Old Company Catalogs Book I
by Mary, Lyle And Lynn Welker on page 23, with a lid, and described there as “# 29 Mustard & Cover”.
It is a very nice example and gorgeous as you can see from the photos!
If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about them and collecting toothpick holders at their website.
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.
However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

Age and Condition
This piece probably dates to circa 1930s.
It is in excellent mint original condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs.
I will mention that I do see a couple of minor straw marks to the bottom; this is in no way damage, just common minor factory manufacturing flaws of this era of glassmaking.
If this was originally sold as a mustard with a cover, there is no cover with this one.
Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
Approximate Dimensions
About 2” (5.1 cm) across and sits about 2.375” (6 cm) off the table.
Approximate Weight
About 3.875 ounces (111 grams).
