Description

KM XM4a, one year type, satirical coinage for "Purple Shaftieuland".  Crown size aluminum coin, marked for division into two Half Shaft coins.
The reverse legend translates to "In Foreign Aid We Trust".
Bob Kolosa issued these "coins" to protest the plethora of NCLTs (non-circulating legal tender coins).  I think that he was surprised at the demand for them; they became the coin collectors' version of a "cult classic".  There are five different designs, each in two metals.  Mintage is reported as 1,000 pieces of each.
