Harper & Row

Harper & Row was a leading American publishing company headquartered in New York City, United States. Established in 1962 through the merger of Harper & Brothers and Row, Peterson & Company, it became known for publishing influential fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, educational titles, religion, history, and reference works. The company released books in printed editions, as it operated before digital publishing became common. Its publications were written mainly in English and reached readers across the United States as well as international markets through licensing and export partnerships. Harper & Row published works by celebrated authors such as Harper Lee, C. S. Lewis, Maurice Sendak, and E. B. White. In 1989, the company merged with William Collins, Sons to form HarperCollins, continuing the legacy of its distinguished publishing catalog.
