Harper & Row

Harper & Row began in 1962 when Harper & Brothers merged with Row, Peterson & Company, creating a major publishing force headquartered in New York City, USA. Its roots trace back to Harper & Brothers, founded in 1817 by brothers James, John, Joseph Wesley, and Fletcher Harper. Known for publishing literature, children’s books, nonfiction, and academic works, Harper & Row reached readers across the United States and international markets. It published primarily in English while expanding global influence through translations and distribution. In 1987, News Corporation acquired it, and later it became part of HarperCollins.
