Random House
Random House began operations in 1927 in New York City, United States, when founders Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer purchased the Modern Library imprint and created a publishing house that could release books “at random.” Headquartered in New York, it grew into one of the world’s most influential English-language publishers. Today, it operates under parent company Penguin Random House, part of Bertelsmann. Random House publishes fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and major global bestsellers across many countries, including the U.S., Canada, India, the U.K., and Australia. Its books appear in multiple languages through international divisions, giving the brand a powerful worldwide literary presence.
