World Publishing Company
World Publishing Company was an American publishing house established in 1901 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. The company was founded by Samuel Sidney McClure, George M. Hill, and John Wilstach as the successor to Hill’s publishing business. It became well known for publishing children’s books, classic literature, educational titles, and general nonfiction. In 1962, the company became part of The Times Mirror Company, and later its publishing assets were acquired by other publishers. Although its primary market was the United States, many of its books reached readers around the world through international editions and translation partnerships. The publisher mainly released books in English, while selected works were translated into numerous languages, helping its publications achieve lasting global recognition.
